- Ws Notes
- David and Steven were in the the village. And their intentions of going there was to meet with the water and sanitation committee encouraging them to remain active. As they were in the village they were joined by Mohamed Gasemba the committee adviser and Daniel the village chairman who led them to where the borehole was . However the Kibo staff were impressed because the borehole status was well maintained . The members were advised by the Kibo staff to always keep the borehole compound and sock pit status clean. Not forgetting that it’s everyone’s role in their community to continue contributing towards their borehole account. After all that the Committee members requested the Kibo staff for a smaller meeting . At the beginning of the meeting the committee members were asked by the Kibo staff about their challenges. They said that one of the challenges was everyone getting to pay towards the borehole account. For that reason the Kibo staff advised the committee members to always keep having borehole and sanitation meetings . That was because they would monitor and assess their effectiveness Later the members were requested and reminded of revisiting their borehole constitution . Which would help to remind the village about their full roles and the responsibilities. They were also reminded by the kibo staff to always take their full ownership and the total care of their borehole. They continued and said that it would not be the Kibo always to take the lead Incase of any future borehole breakages. However the committee treasurer mr lsabirye peter said that they had 147000 shillings as their borehole account balance. They were advised to continue contributing money towards their borehole account.
Further more the committee members addressed before the Kibo staff the greater challenge of the continuous rains which had destroyed some of the different peoples sanitation facilities. However they were encouraged to start reconstructing new latrines and shower areas . Because of that David encouraged the village through the committee members that they should reconstruct-stronger latrines and the shower areas which had the bottom corses constructed with cement. That would prevent the water from damaging the already constructed shower areas. And also for the latrine pit the Kibo staff emphasized much more about the affected members using better and stronger construction materials. They concluded their meeting when the committee members had agreed to revisit the affected homes. To keep encouraging everyone to reconstruct good new standardized sanitation facilities. In general according to the hygiene and sanitation status of the entire village was good. Except for the affected homes by continuous rains.
