- Notes
- Alex met with the water user committee to encourage them continue with their roles and responsibilities and guiding them of all the required materials needed for the borehole wall fence. Also a lesson about the borehole ownership and management was conducted, telling them that it’s very important for them to understand that ownership of the well begins with the committee and trickles down to the rest of the village. They have to ensure that the well is clean at all times and all the bylaws that will be formed need to be obeyed by all the community water users. Some people lost their sanitation facilities due to the recent rains and the Alex encouraged the committee to continue moving around the village during this festive season to encourage all the affected people replace their facilities when the rains eventually reduce. Alex also talked to the lower leaders in the section where a dry hole was got to continue working together and also know that the only successful we’ll got in the village belongs to all people in the village and however much it’s at a distance from many people in the lower section, they are still welcome to fetch water from the new well. The water and sanitation committee have already worked hard and have already got all the materials to build the wall fence around the water source. Alex also passed by the district water office to get the land agreement signed by the district water officer and hand over the borehole reports to the water office. The village will only start to use this new well after building the fence and after formation of new bylaws. Next year January 2020, WASH will complete the training of the water committee and guide the village to build the new fence.
