Notes
Alex went to have a meeting with the sanitation committee members and village leaders to plan on how to improve better in the areas that are still weak and how to encourage the few remaining people to meet the sanitation standards. Not all the village leaders and committee members attended this meeting but those few that came were able to discuss on the approaches to take this year to finish up and speed up the process. One committee member, Lubaale who doubles as the church of Christ preacher in Naibowa suggested that all the village leaders and sanitation committee members need to work more closely moving together as a group home to home checking on all the sanitation facilities in every home if they meet standards twice a week. Some of the people’s pit latrines collapsed due to the heavy rains last year and need to be encouraged to build new structures since the rains have reduced this month. Also majority of the people are not busy and can be able to do something this month of January. They have not started going to the gardens and so many spend a lot of time at home because it’s too hot to go the gardens. Utilizing the month of January if they all work together will be able to speed up the sanitation program and improve on the remaining areas. They mentioned to move section by section and cover all the village households this month of January guiding everyone on facility standards and hand washing construction. WASH plans to conduct a final survey in the village at the beginning of February 2020 to evaluate the village sanitation status. WASH will continue going back to the village to speed up the work in the village utilizing the fact that many of the people are home and not busy in their gardens. All the committee members and leaders promised to work together more this month before it starts to get busy by everyone in the village.
