- Notes
- Ituba Namalowe has been one of the villages which was so reluctant when it comes to developmental matters, however when the healthy and safe kitchens program was introduced, the community happily embraced the program which encouraged Kibo staff to continue working with them.
Suzan visited the village abruptly to follow up on the maintenance of the facilities and the stove usage at the beginning of the new year. When she got there, she went to one of the group leader’s home madam Betty and found her preparing food for her children.
She happily welcomed her to the village and after exchanging greetings and discussing about the program activities going on so far, they agreed to move around the village and visit a few homes since most members had gone for a burial at the nearby neighboring village. On their way, Suzan was able to meet some members at their homes who didn’t go for the burial that day. Some of the members managed to repair their facilities which had been destroyed by the previous heavy storms such as roofing their kitchens, rebuilding their shower areas, latrines, and dish racks. While others had not, saying they hardly found enough time though they were going to do so very soon. However, Suzan was not able to carry out the monitoring process effectively mainly because most members were absent and decided to postpone the visit to another day whereby they would all be present. She thanked the members present for their time spent and good work done, wishing them the best.
