Harriet and Jeska made a surprise to kalitumba and this was intended to find out whether participants cook on their stoves on daily basis or not.
They were welcomed by Dina who is the Chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program. They begun by inspecting her kitchen who was found cooking on her stove on daily basis and had taken out the three stones . Also she had smeared her kitchen and had a fire risen stand for fire wood storage.
She led them to the homes of other participants who also did not expect kibo to visit them on that day. They found most people cooking on their stoves on daily basis, some people had taken out the traditional three stones while a few people had kept them in the kitchen and claimed that the fuel efficient stove doesn’t give them room to roast maize as they cook food at the same time.
Harriet and Jeska took an opportunity to demonstrate to them how to roast maize on the fuel efficient stoves, they also reminded them about the dangers of cooking on open flames.
The participants understood that ,apologized for their mistakes and promised to change.
Also as far as smearing is concerned most people had smeared their facilities while those ones who were lagging behind promised to do so.
