When Tom arrived in the village, he was welcomed by the secretary of the village who later took him to chairman’s home. They waited at the chairman’s home for a while waiting for other leaders to arrive. When they arrived, the chairman of the village opened the meeting. After introductions from all the members present, the chairman requested Tom to give his speech to the leaders. Tom introduced himself as well as discussed about the WASH program and why kibo wants to take the program to their village. He also shared with them the procedure of operations and encouraged the leaders to be a part of the program. After Tom and the vht discussed about the sanitation and hygiene standards in the village. The vht said the levels were at about 55% but also take about the challenges of latrines collapsing. He also talked about the challenges of stubborn people in th village. Tom encouraged the leaders about working as a team and with love towards the residents is progress is to be made towards improving sanitation and hygiene. After Tom discussing with the leaders, the chairman spoke and thanked kibo for all its done in the village of Kalalu. He offered his support towards the program and also encouraged fellow lead residents to work together to improve the village. Tom shared with them of about the baseline survey in which all leaders will be needed to participate. They said they need to meet and discuss on how to do it before the date for the baseline survey are set. Tom promised to stay in tough with the village leaders and make another visit for another plann8ng meeting for baseline before the dates are set.
