Notes
Introduction Lorna went to review the previous lessons that they had learnt the previous year. This was to awaken the community members minds to check if they remembered anything and if they did were they applying. Overview On Monday Lorna went to mobilize the community of their very first meeting on Friday. They made a plan to meet on the 24th . Lorna’s plan was to go to Nabituluntu to teach on Gender roles and responsibilities however it was the same plan for Alex Bamulumbye to go to this village too. Lorna therefore decided to go to Nawampiti instead of a Nabituluntu. On arrival,She waited for about 40 minutes before the community members showed up and when a few people had now gathered, they decided to start and agreed that others will find them on the way. Lorna started by welcoming them back from the festive season and thanking them for taking good care of their children in this holiday season because at least there was no married girl in the community. Lorna explained that she knows she had told them that she would be coming Friday but because of some few changes she decided to come today but told them that she would also be coming on a Friday.Lorna then without wasting time, decided to go though the previous topics she taught them of Steps in making good decisions and role models. Only 3 people would remember but the others said it has been a while so they forgot. Lorna reminded them that in order not to forget these things they needed to put them in practice and that was the only way to apply these skills in their lives. Lorna gave chance to the three people to remind the group of these lessons. Each of the 3 managed to mention some steps and Lorna built on those to explain better. Lorna added briefly that she knows some people might have set some goals and asked them whether that was true? Some said yes while others said no. Lorna asked what happened and they mentioned some limiting factors like money, festive season time among others. Lorna told them these are bound to happen as we also learnt about those factors that can hold our goals from being achievable but she also said this should not discourage them. She added that this was 2020 and that they can make new goals or find ways of accomplishing the previous goals. On role models Lorna said this holiday season was a platform for them to act as role models especially to their children. She asked them how many have acted as such in this break.Almost everyone put up their hands. She asked them in what ways, they said teaching them house chores, going to church /Mosques with them, digging together and spending more time with their family among others. Lorna applauded them for everything they said they had done. Conclusion Lorna thanked the community members for coming even when the plan was otherwise and told them that, in the next meeting they will be looking at the Causes and dangers of early pregnancy.
