Water Access Explain
This community has 3 boreholes. One was drilled Kibo which is the only one working presently after it was repaired on this visit. The boreholes bearings were worn out. The second one is located at the school however, its pipes are having holes hence producing less water as well as this can lead to contamination of the water. The third borehole which is located at Budigu section also has a similar issue of its pipes having holes.

unity and cooperation amongst the committee members and the other residents.
Village Notes
Kibo staff passed by the borehole at the school which has an issue of less water coming out of the borehole. The committee members told Kibo staff that the problem was that some pipes in there had some holes. This therefore leads to dirty water getting into contact with the clean water through the holes in the pipes.

Ws Notes
David and Steven went to Kigalama and Nawaibete to do the repairing of the two boreholes which had the same problems of their ball bearings which were won out and the handles of the two boreholes were not moving as they used to be originally. This was caused by reckless pumping and the over population at the two boreholes because presently it is a dry season and the majority of the other boreholes are dry, hence causing all the residents from the neighboring villages to get water from only the Kibo boreholes which were the only ones working.David and Steven opened up-the handles of the two boreholes together with the water users committee members and they fixed the ball bearings after lubricating them with grease to reduce on the friction in between the two ball bearings. They fixed the won out ball bearings by replacing new ones. After the repair, they sensitised all the people who were around during the repairing process by demonstrating for them the best way of pumping the borehole. They said one shouldn’t pump while knocking between the lower and upper point of the head pump. They also sensitised them on the young ones they always send to the boreholes to fetch water without any mature persons instructions as they always pump in a reckless way. They also sensitised them on their opening and closure time of their boreholes to avoid the bad handling of the borehole which would be done during the dark or at night when no one would be seeing. They continued encouraging both communities of Nawaibete and kigalama to continue contributing money towards their borehole account and always having sanitation improvement meetings. They visited some six homes on their way towards the Nawaibete borehole and they were found clean. They thanked the owners and encouraged them to continue maintaining the required standards. The treasure of the borehole in Nawaibete told Kibo that they had 200000 shillings on their borehole account and the one from kigalama also showed Kibo staff the 180000 shillings as their borehole account balance. In general the sanitation of the two villages was good and members still working together. On addition to the above ,David was able to note the following in kigalama village the unity and cooperation with in the members as Kibo staff found the members, making for one of the members mr lsabirye a fuel saving stove on their own. They said they would be moving to the next home after having finished the one they were making from lsabirye,s home. David appreciated them for working together on their own and encouraged them ,to extend that unity to every member in the village Also some members of the community are using the water from the soak pit to make bricks.David thanked them for that. They left the two villages when the two boreholes were repaired and in good working conditions .

Repair Notes
The members on the water user committee were able to learn that, the reason why this borehole got spoilt was due to reckless pumping by some other residents and children.
