Notes
Alex together with the district hand pump mechanic met with the village leaders in Kisiro to guide them how to build the new borehole wall fence an idea that looks very new to the village. A wall fence around the borehole is something very new that WASH is starting to adopt on all the new wells drilled by kibo group because it has been realized that the wooden borehole fences last for a very short time. For quite some time, Alex has been talking and encouraging the village to raise money and collect materials needed to build the fence. This has been very slow because it’s a new idea being sold out to villages by kibo group. The village on Avery good note have managed to get all that is required to build the fence and called Alex to show them how it should be constructed. The area leaders, LC3 and the sub county chief were present to see how the fence can be constructed and together we put ideas how best to get it constructed well. The water committee members were present and every body was excited how this will turn out after constructing the fence. The borehole is not yet commissioned waiting on the remaining steps to be fulfilled before. The district hand pump mechanic had more knowledge how to build it and the local builder was guided on how to build it. The wall height was measured and agreed to be 4ft tall and 2.5ft tall for the drainage wall. This is the first fence to be constructed using the bricks and as kibo WASH have to guide the village in order to come up with the right structure before comfortably rolling out to other villages. Construction of the wall fence is expected to start on Friday 31/01/2020 after the village has got the sand to the site. WASH will go back to witness this construction and guide the builder as he builds the wall fence following the plan that was designed by kibo group. The sanitation and water committee members were reminded to be present during this construction process as well not forget their roles and responsibilities. The sub county chairman promised to be present and witness the process of constructing the fence.
