- Notes
- Alex B and Chris Went to nabituluntu with the CDO and the sub county chief for a community meeting, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss with community the vision and mission of kibo in nabituluntu village and also to enlighten to the community members the relationship between the government and kibo.
This meeting came as a result of a negative response some member had towards planting trees and taking pictures of the trees. This gentleman thought kibo would come back and claim their land, this prompted Chris and Alex B to invite the Government officials from the sub county to outline to the community members the mission and vision of kibo and also to make the members aware that kibo is registered by the Government of Uganda and that it has no intention of coming back for their land but its intention is to sensitize the communities about the dangers of deforestation and the importance of planting trees.
12 men and 14 women including the mvule leadership committee managed to come for the meeting however the chairperson Encouraged the community members to embrace the kibo programs because many communities have benefited and so he challenged the community members that their attendance could be more than just that.
The chairperson Mr Tulibagenyi on behalf of the community first apologized to Kibo staff and the district officials for the action and words spoken by one individual in the community, he said his views did not represent the community however he said the whole community is optimistic about Kibo because it has done a lot for them.
The chairperson said he has worked with Kibo for along time and he can confidently say that Kibo is Christ driven with a high level of transparency.
The chairperson told the community members to trust kibo because the Government knows what they doing in the community.
The CDO informed the community members that Kibo is working with the Government by helping to implement the policies were the government is not able to reach.
The sub county chief directed the community leaders to sensitize the community about the work Kibo is doing and also mobilize the community for another meeting involving all the members including those who were not present.
The next meeting is on 19/02/2020 and it will be about meeting both lower nabituluntu and upper nabituluntu to try to unite them since they seem to have been divided due to politics .
