Notes
Alex was in Nabikenge to meet with the village leaders, water user committee and the sanitation committee about their responsibilities in their village concerning about the water sanitation and hygiene program. The WASH program recently drafted a new idea to hold the village more responsible towards their village water and sanitation maintenance. The water committee and sanitation committee will be required to collect data from their village on a quarterly basis for a full year after WASH has exited the village. This will help WASH program to track down the sustainability levels and impact of the program in the village. WASH selected two villages, Nabikenge and Igerera B to test out this idea before rolling it out in other villages. During the meeting with these leaders, the chairman LC 1, Segonga Aaron was very happy that this idea will help people to be more accountable and maintain the village sanitation and take good care of their borehole that was given to them by kibo group. The chairman vowed to follow up on this matter and make sure the water and sanitation committee collect this data effectively. The village will be required to submit the data back to kibo on April 1. WASH is yet to see how this works out before rolling out to other villages.
