Notes
Enock and Martin started with few homes in the trading centre as they proceeded in homes towards the swamp area to also check on the progress and improvement of latrine construction and other facilities like shower areas, kitchen areas, rubbish pit. There are over 14 homes in this particular section all of them don’t have a proper latrine, six of the latrines were full and the rest of the homes practice open defection. Enock and Martin were so mad with these people, and called them individually and set dates for each and everyone to have completed digging latrines and building the structures. The time agreed on was two weeks for all the homes to which don’t have latrines, they also taught them sustainability for all the facilities. As they continued with the teaching, they encouraged them to use Ash in latrines, construct hand washing facilities, rubbish pits and were also told the uses of all of them. The residents went immediately to collect the pick Axes to start right away with the work. Also seen were 6 new dish racks and all in use. Enock and Martin got a chance to continue teaching about the diseases related to poor hygiene like cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, trachoma, bilharzia etc. When they have all the facilities in place, they will be able to save some productive time to work in their gardens, save money to develop there homes, take children to school and children will be able to concentrate in class because of better health. The residents appreciated all the lessons which were taught to them and they are willing to the improve.
