Notes
Tom made a visit to Mpumiro village and when he arrived, he first moved alone on the section of Buyoboya before meeting or being joined by two committee members. In the section near buyoboya village, he found two new pits being dug. One pit was already done and they had even brought bricks for the construction of the latrine structure. Tom thanked the elderly woman for committing to have a Latrice in her home. In one home, they had started on the pit and Tom advised them on not digging a wider pit as it will make it hard to construct on it. Tom encouraged them to dig a,narrower pit which is easy to put logs and construct on it. From that s cation Tom moved to the chairman’s place and there he met two committee members waiting. The committee members advised Tom that they all move along the main road in all the homes to see what the residents are working on. Tom agreed and they moved checking on facility constructions and improvements. In the homes they moved in, one home had a fully finished pit of about 25ft but they are yet to construct on it. Tom advised the resident to construct on the pit before the rains start and it might collapse in which will make it hard to construct on it but rather dig a new one. In another home, they have finished the construction of the concrete slab. They said they were waiting for the slab to dry before they construct the structure. Tom also advised them to make sure that they roof the latrine when it done. One res also told Tom and the committee members that he had burned bricks to finish his Latrine. He said the remaining bricks will help construct a new kitchen for his home. Tom also encouraged the chairman of the committee members to continue mobilizing residents so that they contribute to the iron sheets as roofing their latrines will help keet the latrines for a longer period.
