- Notes
- Yesterday Steven and Chris went to kishaike village to follow up on facility construction and their improvement.kishaike village is one of the villages in namutumba district that were doing bad as far as sanitation is concerned however Steven and Chris felt it was very important to make a follow up after several visits and lessons by the WASH program.
As soon as Steven and Chris arrived, the chairman of kishaike village who was on his way to Namutumba town apologized that he would not be around to guide as through the village but he left behind the VHT who would guide us since follow ups involves moving from home to home. When Steven visited the first home, he found when the owner had just constructed the slub/concrete floor of 35 feet latrine and he was laying bricks to construct, Steven was so impressed by this gentleman because he had no toilet before..
Out of 35 homes Steven and Chris visited, only five homes had their pit latrines broken down but they had new latrines being constructed however, a few homes had their dish racks broken down but Steven advised them to put up new ones before next week.
Steven found out that some health facilities in kishaike village especially the pit latrines were affected by rain however there is hope to put up new ones because community members are committed .
Steven plans to go back to kishaike on 5th March 2020 to carry out hand wash triggering.
