Notes
It’s about two weeks since triggering was done in this village, there is a lot being done in the village with many people busy digging new pits for those that needed new pit latrines in their homes. Alex together with 4 sanitation committee members and the village chairman moved in the lower section of the village towards the swamp and covered all the homes in the lower section. Three new pits were being dug and one pit was completed measuring 25ft belonging to Okello peter where feaces used during triggering was got. There is a great feeling in the village of every body wanting to improve on the sanitation and hygiene in their homes. Many of the people were got busy working in their homes and Alex together with the sanitation committee members and the village chairman guided them on the standards required. Okello Peter has completed digging a pit measuring 25ft and almost hit the first water. This is the home where feaces used during triggering was got. He continued to thank kibo group for opening his eyes as his home was in a terrible state. Because of his large family, he has decided to put up three new pit latrines for his family. The sanitation committee members are working very hard moving in the village two times a week and have resorted to divide up the village into three sections. Also they encourage everyone to come with clean jerrycans when fetching water and so far more than 15 new pits are under construction. WASH and the sanitation committee will utilize this dry season to sensitize the village and speed up the sanitation program before they get busy in their garden when the rains start. Wash group will continue with weekly visits in this village to follow up on new facilities together with the sanitation committee
