Suzan went to the lower side of the village to monitor the stove usage and the maintenance of the other facilities such as smearing of the buildings,stoves and construction of the dish racks. When she arrived there, she went to the group chairperson’s home and found her already gathered with some members under a mango tree where the meetings usually take place. The members were so excited to see Suzan that day, and without wasting much time, they first settled down and discussed a few issues concerning the program activities that were still going on in the village such as smearing the houses, building stoves at their neighboring villages and construction of stronger firewood storages. According to the chairperson, the healthy and safe kitchens activities were progressing really very well in a way that one could easily observe most facilities well maintained. They all agreed to walk around the village while visiting home to home. This was intended to see weather the members had really improved and maintained their facilities. Along the way, Suzan came across some homes which had really maintained their facilities and had well smeared their houses which was so impressive to see. About six members needed to reconstruct their kitchens which were in a bad state as well as other facilities such as the dish racks, shower areas, latrines and to dig up new rubbish pits. It was also reported that the previous rains destroyed most buildings and some members were yet to rebuild them. Suzan went ahead and thanked the members for the good teamwork which enabled them improve on their facilities and building more stoves at their neighboring villages. It also created love and unity among those who were previously conflicting with one another. The members were so grateful for the visit and advice given by Kibo staff promising to always work together for a great healthy living, and the meeting finally came to an end.

Yes almost all the members at the lower side of the village are cooking on their fuel efficient stoves and have also improved on their sanitation and hygiene.
