Lesson Taught
Bible Lesson 6: Prayer
Notes
Ida went to Budumba to review the previous Bible lessons in order to find out the knowledge and understanding of the lessons taught so far. The preview was well attended or answered which gave Ida a reason to begin a new topic (PRAYER) Ida asked the community what they knew about the word prayer, David said that prayer is the way people communicate with God. Sanyo said that those are memorized verses from either the Bible or Koran. Otim said that prayer are gospel songs. Ruth said that prayer is some kind verse from the Bible led by a man. Nangobi said that prayer is medicine. So Ida thanked all who gave answers and told them that all of were right according to what they think and see. She continued saying that prayer is a two way communication with God and us His people. There is no way you can talk to God except through prayer and He also talks to us through His word the Bible. We are all entitled to speak with God (men, women and children) It’s not only men or women or priests to speak on our behalf. We were given authority to speak to our God just as we speak to our friends. Ida said she agrees with Nangobi who said that prayer is medicine, many people in the Bible prayed and were answered and healed. Hannah prayed and was blessed with Samuel, the tax collector was forgiven and many others. Before we go to witch doctors let’s ask or pray to God to give us wisdom. Let’s teach to prayer this will teach them to speak to God by themselves not thinking that only dad, mom and pastors are the only ones responsible for praying. Ida encouraged parents to always make turns when praying, include children and mothers to lead prayers.
Next Visit
2020-06-22 - Purpose: To continue with prayer lesson and also inspect the standards of hygiene in the house.
Program Success
Budumba has been experiencing a big problem of many people at the borehole. They called the hand pump mechanic to come and fix the problem of water not coming, the members thought that the bearings had worn out as the mechanic reported after opening, but this time it wasn’t the bearings but a big mouse had died inside that blocked the way water passes. They removed it and pumped for an hour such that if there was any rotten mouse parts remaining water would wash them all. The well was fixed with new bearings.
Program Critical Needs
Budumba needs to talk to the district in order to work on the roads, in the near future if the rains begin, it might be hard to pass mostly at the swamp.
Program Ownership
The family that had marital issues and were at a point of breaking the marriage, are now fine and back to normal due to the lessons and counseling. The husband is thankful for Kibo because his marriage is stable and he promised to continue working on his mistakes that they will be the examples to the community.
Other Program Observations
The borehole committee is very active that they don’t wait for Kibo guys to come and fix their well.
Program Expected Of Village
To mobilize members as usual.
Program Staff Preparations Next Visit
Prepare lessons for the next meeting and also call the group mobilizer Otim for updates.
