- Notes
- Alex was in a Naibowa to follow up on hand washing construction and usage. 37 hand washing stands have been so far constructed in the village. This is more than half of the village people with these stands. After teaching the values of hand washing in Naibowa a lot of the people started to construct these hand washing stands in their homes. The village residents testified good about this Cool idea of using these stands instead of the tippy taps. The kibo kind are easier to maintain compared to the hand washing Jerrycans which are very hard to maintain because of the termites that eat the poles. Together with the sanitation committee, they visited some of the people still lagging behind and found that Aljaabu is about to complete a pit of 15ft and two new pits were being constructed. The wife to Aljaabu expressed her happiness to kibo Group for helping her also get a first pit latrine in her home. She thanked kibo and the sanitation committee for being on his husbands’ neck all the time to get this pit latrine done. In the upper part of the village towards the Centre two new pits were under construction and all have promised to complete them in two weeks. WASH will plan to go back and conduct a third evaluation in the village to asses the general village sanitation standards before starting to prepare them for the new well.
