Notes
David and Steven were in ndalike village. And their intention of going there was to carry out the hand washing triggering . As they were in the village they found when a lot of schools kids from two different schools and the area community members had gathered waiting to hear from them. They started the triggering session by letting the village chairman to carry out the self introduction of all his sanitation committee members. After that the Kibo staff were invited by the village chairman to lead them throughout the entire hand washing session . They started by asking the people whether they have ever washed their hands after visiting a latrine or as they were came for the meeting. The majority of the group said not at a regular basis. However for that reason David had got the entry point to carry out his first demonstration regarding when one pills an egg with hands which were not washed . He went on and pick one student and one community member. After them pilling the two boiled eggs the Kibo staff told them to show the egg throughout the people . David asked them was the egg clean . They all shouted and said it wasn’t clean. The second demonstration was when he picked the two other people and he let them to share the same piece of posho when their fingers were closely to each other. The fingers had left behind dirty spots on the two pieces of the cooked posho. For that reason David sensitized the people by telling them that the diseases like typhoid ,diarrhea, trachoma, dysentery are transferred through using hands which are dirty . They continued the third demonstration by telling them how the community would prevent their hands from being dirty or contaminated. They showed the community to wash their hands using ash and soap. The community bought much into the idea of the use of ash to wash their hands. Because ash is easy to get and it is available in all the homes. At the end of the session Steven demonstrated the construction of a hand washing station which was easy to use and for the cleaning purposes because it would be even constructed by the use of mad to join the bricks and later one may plaster it. To prevent it from getting damaged. David,s overview was that the village was happy and every one was ready and anxiously waiting to construct the hand washing stations. David and Steven left with the village two assignments that they were to construct hand washing stations and those with the un finished pits to construct shelters around them.
