Notes
Irene, kim and John went to kagulu to demonstrate on how to make a balanced diet following the nutrition lesson she was teaching. Irene could not teach because the community had lost an eight year old girl and this was as a result of malnutrition. The young girl had been abandoned by her father and mother following their separation leaving the girl and her other two siblings to their elderly grand father. The old man can barely cook or go to the garden so the family of the old man was left to the mercy of the community members to support them with food, the community members provided less that couldn’t sustain them for several days leaving them to starve. The community believes the girl could have died because of spending several days without having a meal.Irene and the visitors sent their condolences to the family and returned to Jinja.
