- Tom met with th village leaders to discuss how the baseline survey was to be conducted and also to discuss about the section of the village where the baseline survey will be conducted.
During the meeting, Tom and the committee of the village agreed that the village will be divided into two sections and that the baseline will be conducted in Kalalu B and later Kalalu A.
This is because the village is too spread out and the sections are far from each other. Also it’s hard to conduct triggering in one place.
The village leadership decided that because Kalalu B was the first to get in touch with Kibo, that it was also right for the sanitation program to start from there and then go to kalalu A.
After the meeting, Tom and the committee members moved around the village especially on the lower section to see the homes where the chairman said that the storm had destroyed all latrines and other facilities.
As they moved they saw many collapsed latrines but in about 8 homes, only one home had endeavored to reconstruct. Tom advised the chairman and his committee to reach out to these residents and encourage them to replace the collapsed facilities as many residents can get sick.
