Notes
Steven and Alex W were in Butabira village to follow up on new facility construction and standards. The emphasis is on new pits under construction guiding the people in the right dimensions and depth. With in a period of about a month since this program started in Butabira, there are more than 10 pits completed waiting to be constructed. The village is working at a great speed and many people that didn’t have pit latrines and those whose pit latrines were almost full are busy working digging new pits. Okudo, one of the household that never had pit latrine is busy digging one and was encouraged to dig a deep pit that will serve his family for a longer period. They visited about 20 households and saw 5 new pits being dug. They continued to encourage and guide the village to work on all the sanitation facilities and majority of the people have completed digging rubbish pits in their homes because the ground is soft to dig these pits the fact that it has started raining. Because of the rain, the dish rack demo wasn’t done and would be rescheduled for another day when all the people can turn up for the meeting.
