Notes
It has been three months now since the healthy and safe kitchens staff last visited Kagulu village. Before going there, suzan first communicated to some of the local leaders through phone calls, informing them of the visit. When they got there, they met the VHT and some other program leaders on their way to the meeting place. They were so excited on seeing Kibo staff, saying they got worried thinking they would never see them again after the long country lockdown of about three and a half months. After exchanging greetings together, Suzan and Tape explained the main purpose of the visit that day to the members. They went ahead and said that it was wise enough to make or discuss about the future plans concerning the program activities together as a team, how to continue operating or participating in the program activities while following the Covid-19 guidelines. In the meeting, Kibo staff together with the members first discussed about the current Coronavirus disease, how to follow the guidelines so as to avoid the spread of the virus. Surprisingly most members in the community were strictly following the guidelines while keeping social distance according to the local leaders. Almost each home had water in the jerrycan and a piece of soap at its entrance, allowing every visitor to first wash their hands before anything. Tape and Suzan encouraged the leaders to always remind the members to be putting on their face masks whenever they were preparing to leave their homes and to avoid walking unnecessarily. Later after, Kibo staff came to an agreement with the members to always avoid big gatherings during meetings and when participating in the activities. Some of the new suggested ideas were to carry out a home to home visit while monitoring the stove usage and maintenance of other facilities, smearing of homes by the family members while maintaining social distance and the members were to help each other in rebuilding their facilities which were destroyed by the storms. The leaders that day were also able to receive a few masks from Kibo group staff and finally the meeting came to an end with a prayer from one of the members.
