While in Naibowa, Alex first carried out home to home visits checking on all sanitation facility standards as well as encouraging people to wash their hands regularly. Alex together with two sanitation committee members reached about half of the village covering 39 households. He was impressed to see how much the village had responded towards practicing hand washing in their homes and construction of the hand washing stands. Many of the homes stepped up building these stands during the three months of lock down with the encouragement from the sanitation committee members. The village people continued to thank Alex and kibo group for teaching them good sanitation practices and continue to think that kibo group had an idea that coronavirus was coming to Uganda and taught them hand washing before the virus set in. Alex was impressed that almost every household visited had this hand washing facility and all the people were encouraged to maintain good hygiene and sanitation practices. The sanitation committee members are proud of what the village has done with every home now using a pit latrine and Alex also appreciated them for their efforts. Alex last week introduced the water program to the village leaders and they went a head to meet all the village residents who were very happy that kibo group is to give a new borehole to the village. A group of 5 people to act as a temporary water user committee was selected by the village members led by the chairman to spear head the water program and all the steps to be met before and after borehole drilling. Alex got a feeling from the village that everyone was happy for the new borehole that will be coming from kibo group and are willing to contribute and participate towards the whole process of borehole drilling. They are willing to contribute food to feed the drillers and towards the borehole account. Alex told the village leaders and the committee of five people that was selected to promote unity in the village and tell all the people that the new borehole belongs to the village and avoid any selfish ambitions that arise always. Kibo group only stands for village unity and a borehole is supposed to strengthen the unity that has been created all through during the sanitation program. The people form the upper side of the village also told Alex that the broken well next to the primary school need repair and the village leaders promised to cooperate contributing the required percentage to repair this broken well also. Alex will go back to meet with the water committee and continue to prepare the village through steps to be met before borehole drilling.

Program Success
Hand washing and usage is in high gear with every home now having a hand washing stand in their home and the village has maintained the other facilities especially pit latrine maintenance

The sanitation committee members need to remain active towards encouraging all people to maintain their sanitation and hygiene standards. Also the village need to maintain unity during the process of borehole drilling and avoid selfish ambitions

The village is very proud of their sanitation standards with everyone in the village now using a pit latrine.
