Tom made a visit to kalalu to meet with the sanitation and hygiene committee as well as discuss on how to move forward with the program as well as take a document about the covid prevention measures from the Uganda government.
When he arrived in the village, he was welcomed by the committee who were already gathered. Tom distributed the document. The members read and another interpreted. After they shared about the guidelines and all the members agreed to support and implement the guidelines in the village. Tom later shared about hand washing. The dangers of not washing hands, benefits as well as how hands get into contact with germs that cause diseases. All the members agreed that through the implementation of hand washing in their home, they will be able to fight diseases but without hand washing, they will not be able to fight the diseases.
Tom after demonstrated on how to construct the hand washing station and the members participated actively in the construction.
After it was constructed, the members discussed and shared about the benefits of the stand compared to the tippy tap.
They said the stand is more durable and it is easy to manage the. They all greed to be the first to implement in their homes so that other residents can see from them. This stand was constructed in the home of the chairman so that whoever comes to the chairman’s home, can be able to see and implement it in their homes
