Notes
Harriet and Tape made a surprise visit to this village and it was intended to assess the progress of Healthy and Safe kitchen program. They were received by the secretary for the Healthy and Safe kitchen program Nagibu who was very impressed for kibo to visit their village again. He said that most people have maintained cooking on their stoves on daily basis basis except a borehole fence which was destroyed. Kibo staff reached at the borehole and asked the participants about the way forward for the fence and they told them that they have started collecting poles for building the borehole fence which they plan to construct on Saturday 11th July 2020. Kibo staff then walked home to home inspecting the stoves and other home facilities. They reached over 20 homes and found when they were all cooking on their stoves except one home who complained that the small stove was not cooking at all. This stove was built by the community on its own and when kibo looked at it , it was realized that the hole that brings fire to the small stove was blocked with ash. They removed the ash and the stove immediately started working. Also they encouraged the family to always remove the ash in order to create enough space for fire to light. As far as smearing is concerned two ladies were found smearing their stove and kibo staff encouraged them to smear their kitchens too other than smearing their stoves only. Also most of the homes reached had hand washing set in place for every one to wash hands in the prevention of covid 19.kibo staff encouraged them to maintain covid 19 prevention practices. They also reminded those who had not smeared their facilities to do so as well as construct firewood risen stands for firewood storage. The community thanked kibo for visiting them and called it as a reminder to them that when kibo visits them they feel encouraged to improve on their facilities that are not in good condition.
