Notes
Jessica and Suzan went to Buluvu upper to follow up on the maintenance of the healthy and safe kitchens facilities such as the stove usage and smearing of the buildings. When they got there, they went straight to the chairperson’s home and found other members already there waiting. They warmly welcomed them to the village and after exchanging greetings, they agreed to form two groups which were to be led by Kibo staff. This was to quicken the whole process since the village was divided into two L.Cs. The two groups went separate ways and began walking around the village, visiting house to house while monitoring the program facilities. During the whole process, many were found cooking on their fuel efficient stoves while a few went back cooking on the three stones. They said that they were planning to build new stoves as soon as possible because the first stoves were built at a wrong wind direction and were not cooking their food as they expected. Some members also needed to repair and smear their buildings such as the kitchens, shower areas and latrines as well as constructing the dish racks and the firewood storages in their kitchens. Suzan and Jessica kept on encouraging the members to improve on their facilities especially within their kitchens and to dig up new rubbish pits because the old ones were found already full. They reminded the members of the dangers they would face if they didn’t improve and maintain their general hygiene and sanitation. They thanked Kibo staff for the advice given and promised to improve on their facilities.Jessica and Suzan wished them a happy stay too, promising to be back to the village for another meeting.
