- Notes
- Tape went to Buyange to follow up on homes that lacked firewood storages,un smeared kitchens.
This was a surprise visit whereby she reached when no one expected her , she also wanted to see whether the participants whose stoves and kitchens were not smeared have started or smeared them. She also wanted to see whether they have built firewood risen stands to help them store firewood in the rainy season.
She walked home to home and it was interesting to see most homes which had poor kitchen facilities that the kibo staff talked to previously had improved them . However they were two homes which had issues. One home complained for Namugoda Sauda that her small stove was not cooking at all.
Tape looked at the stove and found that it was poorly built that the hole that takes fire from the big pot to the small pot was too small and very high that limited fire to reach the small cooking pot while cooking.
Tape asked for a panga and enlarged the hole she told Sauda to wait and use after two days . She also promised them that Incase it fails to still to cook kibo will build for the family another stove so that they all equally benefit from the program. Another member Kairu Farouk had a leaking kitchen that may affect the stove once it starts raining. She found Farouk’s wife at home , she told her to talk to her husband to roof the kitchen.
Also some people have started collected poles to build firewood storage facilities to provide them with firewood that they will use during the rainy season that is about to begin.
Tape also observed that all the participants were cooking on their stoves on daily basis which was a sign of program ownership .
She also encouraged the participants to continue cooking on their stoves as well as maintain their stoves because they help them to live a healthy life as they Safe time and firewood.
Kamayati also commented that the stoves have attracted some men to help their wives as their cook food for their families thus uniting more families.
