Notes
Tom visited kalalu village to check on facility construction and encouraging residents on sanitation and hygiene improvements. When he arrived in the village, he was joined by three committee members and after a short while, they started moving around the village to see and encourage residents in sanitation and hygiene improvements. They moved in the area of the trading center but after moving in several homes, reports came that a child has died in the village at one of the committee members home. The members that Tom was moving with asked to go back and visit the home where the child had died. But before that, they had moved in about 12 homes encouraging residents especially on the construction of hand washing stands, latrines, dish racks and shower facilities. In one home they found when the family had recently constructed a new latrine. Tom advised them to also construct a hand washing facility as well as a dish rack in the home. Two other homes also had pits being dug and one home had a pit already finished. Tom and the members decided to end moving around and visited the family that had lost a child. After Tom left the village and visited the district headquarters to meet with the district health inspector and the health assistant. While in the meeting, Tom shared with them what kibo is doing in ibaako village and kalalu village. Tom also shared with them what kibo is doing in other village and districts especially through the hand washing improvements and sanitation improvements. The health inspector was very happy and thanked Kibo for the work and also expressed interest in visiting the village with Tom to see what Kibo is doing. After Tom left for jinja.
