This was the the first day of borehole drilling in Naibowa village. The drilling started in the morning at about 11:15am and the whole day up to 5:45pm drilled 51M. There was a great hope of getting water in this point after having got the first water at 30M. Also the soil formation was good with minimal collapse of the soil. The community members were very happy to see the rig and the women danced the whole day around the drilling site. Unfortunately one of the workers got an accident while he was hitting a metal with the hammer but a metal piece came off and hit him so bad causing him to bleed a lot. Alex had to rush him very first to the clinic in Kamuli town to receive treatment and stop the bleeding. Also one of the pipes broke down and slowed down the drilling process. They stopped drilling at 51M and would resume in the morning to further drill in this hole. Alex would go back to continue with the supervision of the drilling process and according to the surveyor’s report, it’s assumed that the estimated hole depth would be at 60-65M. The village people continue to thank Kibo group for the rare chance they have got and they feel proud of what they have achieved in their village si far.
