- Irene went to kagulu to continue with her lessons on birth preparedness plan.
With this Irene and the pregnant mothers went through what each mother has to prepare for child birth, preparing from the time when one realizes they are pregnant to the time they give birth.
Irene asked the mothers what they need to prepare for child birth, maimuna said in her clan a mother is not allowed to prepare for the baby she has not seen because it can bring misfortune, what if the baby dies those things can be a lose Aisha said, We don’t carry out scanning to see which baby we are carrying, or if it’s a normal baby or something which looks like a baby but not a normal baby so it’s always hard for us to prepare.
With several discussions Irene encouraged the mothers to prepare for whatever comes because even if the baby is dead one will need a cloth to put them and that the clans have myths which need to be broken by their generation. Besides when some mothers go to hospital when not prepared it’s there men that they embarrass like taking away their shirts to wrap the baby which is not good.
Irene continued encouraging the mothers giving an example of herself preparing for her children but nothing happened. The mothers were grateful to hear such good words and promised to start preparing so as not to get embarrassed in the hospitals.
