Alex first made a visit to Kamuli district water office to meet with the district water officer, Kaliisa Joel and he secured his signature required on the land agreement where the new borehole was recently drilled by kibo group. He then drove to Butansi sub county and met with the officials there to update them about Kibo’s work in Naibowa village. This sub county recently got a new community development officer who needs to know about what NGO’s are doing in the sub county. When told about the work and the new borehole that was recently drilled in the village, they were very happy to kibo for the support and two of the officials including the parish chief came in the car with Alex and went to the village to look at the new borehole and meet with the village ladders and the water user committee. The water user committee had done a good job to look after the new borehole slab and it hadn’t developed any crack. This means they have been doing a very good job to pour water daily and cover up the whole platform during this first week of drying. The sub county officials first congratulated the village upon receiving a new well from Kibo since this is such a rare opportunity and many villages are still struggling to get clean water. Naibowa should therefore count themselves lucky and they thanked kibo group for the support in the sub county. Alex told the leaders that kibo had played almost all its part and now the village also needs to play its part. A new borehole needs to be constructed around this borehole before the village is allowed to use this water source. The water user committee from the beginning was encouraged to build a wall fence instead of the usual pole fence. This was totally a new idea to them and promised to take it up. The water user committee has so far got all the bricks required but were encouraged by Alex to continue working together and get all the necessary materials for the fence. The water user committee promised that by the end of this month, more of the materials will be got and kibo would go back to start guiding the village how to construct this fence. However Alex told the village leaders that only until the fence is done that they would start to use this water. Copies of land agreement were handed out to the land owner where the well was drilled, LC 1, sub county and the district water officer. Alex will continue being in touch encouraging the water user committee to get the necessary materials and to continue with training of the water user committee.

2020-08-17 - Purpose: Follow up with the water user committee about how the village is responding towards contributing materials for the borehole fence.
