Notes
Tom made a visit to kalalu village to hold a meeting about the progress of sanitation and hygiene in the village. When he arrived in the village, he was welcomed by the committee members. Each committee member gave a report about their section of the village to discuss and share the progress and challenges. Most committee members spoke of the improvements being made especially in latrine constructions even though some residents have not yet finished their latrines. They also spoke greatly about the improvements in hand washing as many residents have constructed the hand washing stands but many are yet to plaster them. There were also encouraging comments in some sections of the villages especially from residents who had never had latrines to finally start working on getting one. One committee member said she was very happy when two residents from her section f the village came to her and openly thanked her for her role in encouraging them to improve on their sanitation and hygiene. At the end of the meeting, Tom thanked them for their great work as committee members and encouraged them to continue working toward improving on their village sanitation and hygiene levels. The committee suggested that the month of September, they will be focusing on hand washing, dish racks and rubbish pits as priorities for the month but will also continue to encourage residents about other facilities especially the latrines.
