Follow up on some the homes still lagging behind

David along with Steven they went to Ndhalike village. Their intention of going there was to follow up on the Sanitation improvements in the village mainly in the homes which were previously seen still lagging behind. And also meeting with the sanitation committee members to plan how best they will be conducting the next coming evaluation. As David and Steven were in the village they were joined by kalori, Tatya Anthony the village chairman and mugote Stephen who led them into the homes which were previously seen to be still lagging behind. On that note as they were in the blind mans home Nasser ,they were encouraged by some of the sanitation committee members who acted as good Samaritans helping Nasser the blind to construct for him a-hand washing stand. The good idea of the good Samaritan of the sanitation committee helping Nassani was sold to the committee by David and Henry during the previous home to home visit. However David and Steven finding when the committee members had helped the blind man Nasser to construct for him the hand washing stand it really impressed David and Steven. Therefore David thanked the sanitation committee members for the generous heart of helping the needy and the elderly. David continued and encouraged the committee members to also help mugote the VHT who had dug a 45 feet deeper pit . But previously mugote was found when he had used poor construction materials constructing the foundation of his pit latrine . So because mugote had spent a lot of time when digging the pit to that much deeper,therefore David ,Steven along with the committee they didn’t want him to repeat sooner re digging another pit after the one he had getting collapsed due to some weaker poles he had used when making the foundation of his pit latrine. However as the kibo staff were moving home to home they were so much encouraged with mugote the VHT because they saw some lorry taking some good construction materials into mugote,s home . It was so encouraging because the stronger materials he had bought were going to cause the sustainability of his pit . As David,Steven along with the committee members continued moving home to home , David was more happier to meet the residents of the other home which was still lagging behind when they were around. Because previously they used to ran away from the kibo staff and committee members. It was because they didn’t have the pit latrine and the hand washing stand in place . Therefore David and Steven were so much encouraged seeing that for the first time , they were able to meet the owners of of the home while present in their homes . What encouraged so much the committee ,David and Steven was that the member s from that home were inviting so much the committee into their home for more clarification as far the good sanitation facility standardization was concerned. After the home to home movements the kibo staff were supposed to meet with the committee and plan for the next evaluation. But unfortunately some of the most active members on the committee were involved in the registration of the voters in the village . Therefore the kibo postponed the meeting for the next visit when all the committee members were to be present in the village. In general according to the overview of David and Steven was that only one home dint have the hand washing stand in place. But more sanitation encouragements will be made towards the one hole which was still lagging behind. 

Next Visit

2020-09-09 - Purpose: To continue with the follow up in the remaining homes as well as the encouragement s on other sanitation facilities and also informing the sanitation committee to prepare for the next coming evaluation.

Program Success

Yes the sanitation committee members are busy working helping the fewer homes which had not yet completed the construction of their hand washing stands.
