Notes
Tom made a follow up visit on sanitation and hygiene improvements. He moved with the village health committee members on the upper section of the village encouraging residents on facility standards, maintenance and improvements. When Tom arrived in the village, he found when some committee members were having a meeting at the primary school for parents. But Tom was able to move a few of th committee members who were availed. They moved around the village checking on facility constructions and improvements. They also emphasized the construction of standard dish racks and latrine structures. As they moved, they found one resident who recently constructed a slab for his new latrine, The residents was very happy and promised to work and construct a good latrine for his family. The committee members and Tom encouraged him to use good bricks and if possible to get cement for the construction of the structure. In other homes, residents were encouraged on dish racks and hand washing stand. In one particular home of Mr Steven, they found when he had put logs on a new pit. The logs were very small and short for a latrine. The resident was encouraged to first remove the poor standard logs and construct it with good logs. Tom also suggested to the resident of mixing mud and constructing the floor of the latrine. The mud when it dries, it offers a lot of strength to the floor of the latrine. Many of the homes visited had dish racks but many homes were also encouraged to finish the construction of the hand washing stands. Many residents have maintained th hand washing especially in the upper trading center.
