Notes
Enock made a trip to this community to continue checking on the remaining homes which where completing the latrine construction and also reminding the residents to complete the hand washing stands. This is a community where I have seen many new hand washing stands. The community members are so cooperative and United o bring change in their community. As I reached the community, I met with the local leaders who where waiting for me. We teamed up an walked to the lower section where two young couples who just completed constructing there new latrine, we encouraged them to also const a new hand washing model as well as construct a kitchen area. After we continued walking around to sensitize, monitor, emphasize the core values of sanitation in homes and the whole community in homes which had completed the construction of sanitation facilities, encouraged the people who don’t have doors on their latrine to construct proper doors since most of them had used old clothes as doors. I taught them a new idea of framing the door with old iron sheets and plastic jerrycans that can be cut and framed to make a good door hence increase of privacy as someone uses the latrine. The residents where really excited to try the new idea of making doors for their latrines. We also encouraged everyone to construct a roof on top of all the Latrines since it’s a rainy season many latrines will break down. As we continued walking around, most of the families continued appreciating the lessons brought to them, they have greatly improved their lives through sanitation improvements. It was about to rain and we decided to walk back to the meeting place where I had left my driver waiting.
