Notes
Diana went to Bulyowa A, to continue with the lesson of poultry(Raising), Diana met the committee waiting for her, and they immediately started by apologizing saying that they don’t know what is happening to their community, because they are losing people and that some people had gone for a burial in the neighboring villages. The previous evening they had mobilized the people and Diana called them too before setting off from office and they said that the community is waiting for the lessons. But reaching the community it was another thing. Mbeiza told Diana that she shouldn’t be discouraged, the season is not favoring at times, the rain is back people are in the gardens planting, some people are going for burials. She went a head to encourage Diana not to give up, because the lessons have greatly helped Bulyowa community. She said that domestic violence cases have reduced. David the chairman also said that they no longer receive such complaints in their offices. Mbeiza also added on that if some one moved around Bulyowa community, he or she can see a changed village. The hygiene has greatly improved, women respect their husbands and there is mutual understanding in the families. Diana was amazed and thanked them for giving such remarks. She encouraged them to keep up the spirit of practicing the community empowerment lessons, she also told them to embrace other Kibo programs that are in their community. Diana told them that she is going to continue with home to home visits to mobilize the community and also find out what time they exactly return from the gardens, so that, a way is devised on how to complete the remaining community empowerment lessons in their community. Diana went to Gontaia and Lovinsa’s home and got when she had greatly improved. It was indeed a miracle to see her walking around her compound and also sitting. Last week Lovinsa was bed ridden, she couldn’t sit, she was just lying on her stomach. Gontia was excited to see Diana and thanked Diana for checking on his family and praying with them. He went ahead to thank community empowerment program for being there for them. The lessons have brought joy and happiness in his family. Diana saw the love Gontia and Lovinsa shared, it was a beautiful one, the way they smiled and hugged each other was really capturing. Gontia said that he can not leave his wife, since the community empowerment taught them Harmony and unity in marriage and the causes of domestic violence, he has since then learnt how to love and respect his wife. Diana encouraged them to keep up the love and told their daughter also to emulate the love of her parents, as she kept laughing throughout. Diana went to the next family where, she got brothers who had given up on life. These men normally don’t attend lessons they just greet their friends who are attending the lessons and then go to drink at the center. Diana met them with their mother who is rarely at home, but this time she was present. When she saw Diana, she was too excited and she told her to first greet the father of the children. Diana stood up and followed her, little did she know that the woman was taking her to the graves, Diana stood besides a tiled grave which had a photo of this woman’s husband with his names on it, the woman told Diana, ‘that is my husband the father to my children’., the boys you have been talking to’.Then she left and Diana followed her to where the boys were seated. This was a terrifying moment, but Diana had to be strong in order to accomplish what to took her to that home. Diana told the boys that sitting under the tree doesn’t solve anything, instead it attracts poverty to their lives. They will start thinking of getting money in wrong ways, any yet they need to help their mother who is now old. Robert said that the world is full of problems and there is nothing they can do. Diana told him that, it is wrong to think like that, because God has good plans for them, plans to prosper them and not to hurt them, but that comes from their commitment and hard work, that is how God can bless the works of their hands. Diana told them that many people have become reach from garden work, they have fed and educated their children and even some have bought cars, built homes for themselves. She added on that they should start small and they will grow bigger from the blessings of God. Diana continued counseling these boys and they really appreciated the words of wisdom from Diana. Their mother was equally happy and blessed Diana with the entire Kibo family. Diana concluded with this family and said that she will continue with home to home visits, so that she continues talking and mobilizing the community.
