Notes
Purpose of the visit at Bulyowa primary school, Manuela went to this school to review the previous lessons, homework then teach the students about the steps in making good decisions for their lives. This lesson is intended to educate students so that they can come up with positive healthy life for their features. It was good for Manuela to find students in class reading their books, she greeted them and asked them if they did their homework, they all responded yes, Manuela asked the students about what they learnt previously, students were able to share their ideas about lessons taught, after that, Manuela requested the students to share their home work books and cross mark the exercise, Manuela did that so that next time students can work on their homework without fail and because they know their homework is going to be marked by their fellow students and the marks will be announced in class. After that exercise, Manuela introduced the lesson of the day, she asked the students a question, what is Decision making? Silent, for some 5 minuets, after that mints, one of the students Birungi said that it’s means taking side, Manuela gave students time to try, after them failing to try, Manuela explained to the students what Decisions making is, Manuela told them that it means the process of deciding between what is wrong and what is right for life. Manuela further explained to the students that it’s good for the young people to be given an opportunity to make decisions that will help them to live a healthy life without regrets. After explaining, Manuela explained to the students about the steps in making good decisions, Manuela asked who among them have ever made a decision, or they have ever made decisions for him or her some students raised up their hands, one girl said that during COVID-19, his father had decided for her to get married simply because she was growing very first , but she refused and she told her mother that she wants to study, then her mother planned and took her to her uncles place and that is how she survived the marriage scandal. One boy said for him he had decided to go and join mechanics training but his father did not have enough money , after brain storming, Manuela asked students to mention some of the steps that they can use in making decisions , they shared answers like prayers, stopping, asking for advice etc after that, Manuela said it’s good to follow steps while making decisions because it guides the students to come up with good decisions for life, for example Manuela told them that the first step is to stop thinking about the situation, taking some time out, define the problem, think about the situation, seek advice from others, Listen to the advice, pray, consider the value of the your family, religion, culture and the impact of the action on other people, while making a decision, make the decisions and accept the consequences. After that explanation, Manuela emphasized on the final point that it’s good to accept that consequences of their decisions so that they can learn from it early. As she was summering the lesson, Manuela encouraged the students to always come up with good decisions because it’s their rights to decide between what is wrong and right for the betterment of their features. Manuela gave students homework about the Role Model , she told the students to think about the person they admire and their qualities and give reasons why they admire them.
