Notes
When Tom arrived in the village, he found the committee members waiting for him. They were 4 people. When Tom inquired why they were few, they said one of their colleagues was very sick while another lost a relative and the chairman of the village had gone to kaliro to meet with his clan. They said because of those situations, they were not able to mobilize the village for a village meeting. So, after meeting and talking about the program and how to move forward, they started to move around the village especially in the homes where they were just working on their facilities. In the first few homes they went to, they found a resident who has started on a new latrine for his sister’s family. Tom thanked him for helping his sister to have a latrine. They also moved to another home were they have finished a new latrine while three of the brothers in that home have also started on a new latrine. They said they want to dig a 30ft pit and construct three rooms on it. After, they also moved to the lower section where they found a man building the latrine. He said he is helping his son and after they will go and start on his. His neighbor who just recently married has also started on a latrineand the kitchen while two other residents in the trading center have finished their latrines. Tom encouraged the committee to continue encouraging the residents about sanitation and hygiene. He promised to call them and plan for the meeting another day
