Notes
Tape and Jessica went to the upper section of the village to meet the new participants who requested to be to taught how to build the fuel efficient stoves. When they reached there, they went to the chairman’s home and found a few members already gathered. The members welcomed them to the village and after exchanging greetings and introducing themselves, Kibo staff introduced the healthy and safe kitchens program to the community. They explained to them what was required before getting a fuel efficient stove such as a strong built smeared kitchen with a good roof and improved bathroom, latrine, dish rack and firewood stands. Tape and Jessica explained to the members the type of materials to be used for building the stoves such as the anthill dirt, particular grass, water, banana stems, basins, spades and hoes and shovels. They walked to the nearest bush and plucked some grass that was to be mixed in the dirt during the demonstration. Kibo staff went ahead and demonstrated to the members how to chop the grass into small pieces and also requested them to keep on gathering and cutting the grass until it made at least two sacks. This was because in the coming meeting they would at least build a first demonstration stove . The members were able to select a member who was going to be the first to get a stove and also a small committee group was selected there and then without wasting time. Kibo staff thanked the members for their time and wished them well after agreeing on the date that the next meeting would take place.
